Project Description:
Our client was looking to enhance their front foyer and dining room by adding visual interest to the spaces with custom, Colonial Revival mouldings, wallpaper, and paint. After much review and consideration, we implemented a “hierarchical” approach where secondary openings at the hallway, kitchen, and porch are less formal using only casing and plinth block mouldings, while the formal living room openings are accentuated using a curved, bolection entablature that “connects” the cased opening to the four-piece crown assembly at the ceiling and accentuates the crown as it wraps around each opening.
The walls of the foyer got some new, snazzy wallpaper and a gloss black handrail at the stairs. The dining room walls were painted with two tones of subtle peach that highlights the chair rail moulding, complements the chair cushions, and accentuates the artwork and furniture in the space. Custom radiator covers were also installed to hide the old metal radiators without impacting their performance.
